Everybody is looking for cheap prices whether shopping for clothing, vacation tickets and even auto shipping.  The thing to keep in mind when bargain hunting is that not all things are equal when it comes down to cheap prices for certain products and services.   For example, hiring your next-door neighbors 17-year-old kid for $5 an hour to paint your garage sounds cheap, but you know there might be some drawbacks.  For starters, the neighbors kid will probably do a sloppy job, getting paint on the driveway, plants and painting unevenly.  Also he will take his sweet time in order to make a couple extra bucks.  Now if you get a referral from a friend for a painter or do your homework and find a professional company to do the painting it may cost more, but they will give you a completion time and an exact cost for their labor. 

Now lets get back to talking cheap auto shipping.  Cheap prices are not always the best solution for shipping your automobile.  I am not saying you should book with a company that charges the highest car shipping price, but you shouldn’t always go with the one that is the cheapest either.  What I am saying is, do your homework and research all auto transport carriers as well as what the general auto shipping cost should be for the delivery of your car from its present location to its new destination.

Many people I speak with say things such as “my car is only worth about $300, I am not going to spend $600 or $700 to transport it, I’m looking for the cheapest price possible”.  Does that sound like you? Well for those of you who’s car is  worth less then the cost of shipping, maybe it is just worth to sell your car and buy a new used car at your destination, just an idea. To be more rational, you have to understand that these vehicle shipping companies have costs as well, such as paying the truck driver and fossil fuel.   Quotes you will receive for your auto shipping cost should be somewhat similar in price.  For example, standard car transport going from Connecticut to Florida should cost a ballpark figure of about $800.  If you receive a cheap price that is half that amount, say $400 then you should be wary of that auto shipping cost and transport company.

It is recommended that you contact more then one auto shipping company and if the price they quote you sounds to cheap and good to be true, it probably is.  Ask friends and co-workers if they can recommend any auto transport carriers.  Also try and do research on the company if possible.  Lastly be sure to read all contracts and paperwork regarding auto shipping cost, delivery time, cancellation fees and insurances.
