         The cost of auto shipping is dependant on three things, the cost of fuel at the time of your vehicle is being transported, the number of other vehicles that are traveling a similar route to your vehicle, and the existence of other vehicles that will be needing to be shipped from your vehicle’s drop off point.  Because these variables are seasonal, shipping your car will cost different amounts at different time of the year. For this reason it makes no sense to get vehicle shipping quotes except at the time that you are actually willing to book the auto transport company. Getting a quote off season will give you an idea of how much vehicle shipping might cost but it might also give you an unrealistic expectation of the actual cost of car shipping.

 A good rule of thumb is to start getting quotes about six weeks before you need your car at its destination. You should definitely book your car shipping at least three weeks before you need your automobile at its destination. It may only take a week to ship an automobile across America but not all car carriers pick up every day. So scheduling can add a second week to your delivery and it can take a day or two just to book your vehicle’s transport. It is extremely important to discuss your time table with every company you get a quote from. Never assume that the company you are currently talking to will have the same pick up and drop schedule as the company you spoke to one hour ago.
