How to Pay for Auto Transport Company Services When using an auto transport company to ship your vehicle, there are some things to find out before signing paperwork. How to pay for everything is one of many considerations.
Some companies will accept online credit card payments and some will not. Though online credit card payments are considered to be very convenient, some auto transport companies do not consider online credit card payments to be secure for their customers.
Most auto transport companies will require some form of deposit prior to shipping your vehicle. Here is where it may get tricky. Some auto transport companies will allow a credit card to be used with the deposit, but require cash or cashier’s check upon delivery. Some auto transport companies will accept a personal check, others will not. Be sure to ask for all the options for payment in regards to deposits and final billing.
If you choose to pay for any part of an auto transport company’s services in cash, be sure to get a receipt that details what is being paid for. If you are able to pay by check, be sure to record on the check what is being paid for, and to get some form of receipt that states the same thing.
If you pay online, be sure to print out all invoice and receipts. Regardless of how you pay, be sure to keep copies of all contact information, written quotes, written guarantees, receipts, and all other paperwork in one place such as in a file folder, manila envelope, or binder.
If you are shipping a vehicle due to relocation for work, some expenses involved may be tax-deductible or reimbursed by your place of employment. Keeping good records for those purposes is critical in order to get the compensation.
